As aPrincipalSystem Safety Engineer youwill be accountable for theestablishment and execution of thesafetyprogramacross the AMRAAM Safety Leadis a technical expert in missile safety as well as a project manager whoestablishesand monitorssafetyprogram execution leads programsafetyteams and interfaces with program& requires advancedapplicationofMIL-STD 882E for System Safety(hardware software firmware and personnel)for DoD Missile systemstypically obtained through advanced education combined with experienceas well as project management experience and leadership.Location: Tucson AZ

What You Will Do

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Principal System Safety Engineerto join us onsite in Tucson AZ as Safety Lead for our AMRAAM program.

  • Practicalapplicationof project managementskills:
  • Create/update the strategy for the program to meet all its milestones withsystem safetyfeatures integrated into the productin compliance with contract and awarded funding.
  • Createaschedule and integratesafetytasks and activities into program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
  • Plan/manage thesafety programeffort within the Program IMS.
  • Understanding of thesafetybudget and taskingthrough close coordination withthe responsibleCAM/IPTL/productowner including EACs.
  • Mentor juniorsafety engineers.
  • Remove barriersimpactingteam members.
  • Actively engage in engineering review boards and configuration control boards to stay on top of designchanges andassess impacts to the established safety program.
  • Establish on-going feedback loopwithfunctionalandprogrammanagement.
  • Lead & coordinate System Safety Working Group(s) between key Raytheon and Customer representatives.
  • Confidence to escalate risks to theappropriateleveland follow through on corrective actions.
  • Proficient in interpreting system requirements customerspecificationsand military standardsso as torecommend compliance strategiesto program leadership:Chief Engineer Program Manager Integrated Product Team Lead etc.
  • Effectively collaboratewith stakeholders across a range ofengineering functionstoidentifyand mitigate risks: Systems Engineering SoftwareEngineeringFirmware Engineering Electrical Engineering Hardware Engineering EnvironmentalSafety & Health Human Systems Interfaces Test Engineering.
  • Manage safety related interactions with suppliers and/or subcontractors.
  • Creativelyinnovate practices to improve overallsafetycultureat Raytheon.
  • Understand and shapesystem safety/Human System Interfacespostures across the lifecycle (design integration/ test flight test production field returns).

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience developing and implementingMIL-STD-882ESystem Safety Program tasks and analyses involving management (task series 100) analysis (task series 200) evaluation (task series 300) and verification (task series 400). This includes hardware and software safety related tasks.
  • Experiencewithpresentation skills tobrief safetystatusto safety approval authorityat technical reviews safety review boardsandothersas part of the safety approvalprocess.
  • Experience managing a safety program.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders across a range of engineering functions to identify and mitigate risks.
  • An active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with briefing at the military safety review board.

The salary range for this role is 107500 USD - 204500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including but not limited to individual performance business unit performance and/or the companys performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
