Job Summary

The Ohio Arts Council (OAC) is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally educationally and economically. With funds from the Ohio General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts the OAC provides financial assistance to artists and arts organizations.

Some evenings and/or weekends are required. Occasional overnight travel may be necessary.

As of the time of posting this overtime-eligible position starts at a base pay rate of $53602 annualized ($25.77/hour) within pay range 30.

Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment:

  • Three courses or nine months experience in contract & grant preparation; three courses or nine months experience in accounting; three months training or three months experience in public relations.

  • Or six months experience as Grants Coordinator 1 63161.

  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

The Ohio Arts Council is looking for a dedicated detail-oriented professional to assume the duties of Investment Associate (Grants Coordinator 2) in the agencys Investment Office.

This Investment Associate will be responsible for supporting agency grant-making activities for both organizations and individuals as part of the agencys Investment Office working in partnership across the agencys teams. The Investment Office staff forms the core of the agencys primary work as a grant-maker. Investment Associates assist the Human Resources & State Investment Director in managing critical agency functions for all grant programs supporting sound stewardship of public funds. These investments in turn support the states arts and cultural assets including artists arts education and arts and cultural organizations.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate grants administration work for all agency grant programs: monitor applications to assigned grant program areas; input and maintain data for applicants and grantees; prepare application materials for review panels; attend and provide technical support at panel meetings; input funding recommendations and prepare grants reports for review and approval; monitor and evaluate grant activities to assure adherence to grant agreement terms and compliance with relevant program guidelines; review submitted reports for completeness and accuracy; participate in program policy development work as directed.

  • Read interpret and prepare technical reports: review applicant and grantee budgets audits and other documentation for completeness; assist in reviewing grantee budgetary materials for sound financial practices.

  • Maintain excellent public relations: provide technical assistance to constituents over the phone via email virtually and in-person; answer inquiries about grant program deadlines eligibility requirements award reporting and other issues; conduct periodic site visits and other in-state constituent travel especially to areas that have previously been underserved.

  • Maintain the agencys online grant application system: be knowledgeable about system performance functionality and periodic upgrades or enhancements; provide reports and other outputs for board and agency leadership; perform routine updates to forms and configuration settings in response to user feedback; provide training and troubleshooting for staff as needed.

  • Assist with special programs and projects: assist in special events (e.g. conferences workshops meetings displays); represent the Investment Office in work teams and ad hoc committees as directed; perform other duties as directed in the agency strategic plan.

Knowledge of supervisory principles/techniques*; public relations; contract & grant preparation; accounting; budgeting. Skill in operation of personal computer*. Ability to define problems collect data establish facts & draw valid conclusions; develop complex reports & position papers; gather collate & classify information about data people or things; calculate fractions decimals & percentages.
