Job Summary

Family Independence Administration provides temporary help to individuals and families with social service and economic needs to assist them in reaching self-sufficiency via essential and diverse programs/services such as: temporary cash assistance SNAP childcare eviction prevention services adult protective services job training employment plans/support domestic violence assistance child support enforcement etc.

Under general direction with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment the Model Center Project Coordinator assists FIA Deputy Commissioner for Operations and the Regional Office management in planning implementing coordinating monitoring and evaluating all activities related to the community- based Model Job Centers. He or She prepares evaluation reports by consolidating various Center operations and prepares management reports using Microsoft Excel or similar analytical tools depicting performance by Center and Worker level as necessary.

Family Independence Administration (FIA) is recruiting for one (1) Community Coordinator to function as a Model Center Project Coordinator who will:

- Plan and monitor the implementation expansion and overall organization of community-based Model Job Centers by assisting Centers in developing mechanisms to track accountability and progress therein. Assist FIA data reporting staff in the development of new performance indicators and management tools for the purpose of maximizing the Centers operational performance and ability to achieve Agency goal of moving cash assistance recipients toward economic independence.

- Prepare daily evaluation reports on operations of community-based Model Job Centers by collecting data from the Paperless Office System (POS) Welfare Management System (WMS) and Model Center Numbering and Identification Queue (MONIQ) applications and formulating it into reports to identify problematic issues and communicate potential and/or newly discovered negative trends to the Deputy Commissioner for Operations and Center management. Recommend the corrective course of action as needed.

- Coordinate with the Division of Job Support Services by participating in intra agency meetings to facilitate the opening and development of community-based Model Job Centers and acts on any decisions made during those meetings in collaboration with the appropriate FIA departments and Community Based Organizations.

- Perform analyses and review program plans using various management tools to monitor the community-based Model Center implementation effort staff performance and program outcomes. Reports findings to the Deputy Commissioner for Operations Center management and trainers as needed.

- Collaborate with FIA Office of Policy Procedures and Training to identify problem areas or issues that warrant further analysis training and corrective action. Work closely with the appropriate entities on various projects including but not limited to systems implementation introduction and revision of policies procedures and work processes as related to community-based Model Job Centers and Food Stamp Offices.

- Attend HRAs Office of Community and constituent Affairs monthly meetings to share FIA operations information and provide program updates as appropriate.

- Assist in organizing the Queens annual Community Awareness Day event which provides health financial and employment information to the communities of all the five boroughs of New York City by interacting with vendors from many Community Based Organizations.

Qualifications :

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
