The Associate Loan Accountant ensures adherence to existing controls surrounding loan servicing and administration and further develops systems of internal controls supporting continuous improvement and upgrading of information systems and : Accounts Payable and Banking:In charge of the centralized Accounts Payable of the Loan Administration groupPreparing Protective Advances on Default loans that are mostly for the payment of invoicesMonitoring of US Borrower payments received at Synovus or other banksCreating wire templates and securing their approval for useFacilitating prompt and accurate recording of transactions at The Mortgage Office (TMO)Organizing the files for the loan admin team at SharepointThe Mortgage Office: Assisting in obtaining loan and investor documents to facilitate loan and lender set-up at TMOPosting monthly at TMO of the EFT and ACH to individual loans and monitoring any payment returnsAssisting in monthly payment distribution either by online transfer or wire or depositing of ChequesDirectly providing or providing Investor Relations with copy of payments made and supporting schedulePeriodically cleaning-up of the various Loan Servicing Trust AccountsAssisting with regular TMO maintenance such as verifying or completing the information as reported on data integrity checkReporting: Updating monthly Computershare on loan ownership changes and ensuring that Ownership Certificates on file are current and completeProviding monthly Mortgage Statements to the BorrowersAssisting in the preparation of investor documents monitoring their signing/execution and saving the filePreparing Originator Deferred Fee Schedule on applicable paid out loans for Senior Accountants reviewAudits and Tax Filing: Assisting in packaging and submission of all documents required by the auditorsCoordinating with Investor Relations to obtain complete investor information and documentation for investment in the loansAssisting with providing the investors copy of tax forms filed and supporting schedulesRequirements: College Diploma or Bachelors degree in Business from an accredited post-secondary institutionMinimum of 2 years experience in loan processing accounting administration or a similar role within the financial services industryComplies with all Policies and Procedures work results and standard operating proceduresSafeguards the interests of the business our people and our clientsExcellent organizational skills with an ability to balance multiple priorities and a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work both quickly and accurately and with attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and customer focusedAbility to work independently and in a team environmentSuperior analytical and problem-solving skillsComputer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel
