Position Summary
Indiana University Indianapolis invites applications for a 10-month tenure-track Assistant Professor in Sport Analytics to support its expanding Sport Analytics and Sport Management programs as well as campus-wide sport performance initiatives. Located in the heart of Indianapolisinternationally recognized as the Sports Capital of the World and home to the NCAA major professional franchises and leading sports-technology organizationsIU Indianapolis offers unparalleled opportunities for industry collaboration applied analytics research and experiential learning. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and graduate instruction in areas such as sport analytics sport performance tourism/events/hospitality analytics predictive modeling and related fields. We welcome applicants committed to addressing complex challenges in sport analytics tourism analytics human performance and related fields. Candidates may come from: (a) data science artificial intelligence or computational fields with an applied focus on sport tourism human performance or health or (b) sport- tourism- or health-related disciplines who have developed significant technical expertise in data science and artificial intelligence. We seek scholars who create or employ advanced analytical methods and emerging technologies to examine issues in sport business tourism human health sport science/performance and physical activity. Applicants who can complement existing program strengths while enabling new areas of innovation are especially encouraged to apply. This position will collaborate closely with key campus partners including: the Convergent Bioscience and Technology Institute the Institute of Human Health and Wellbeing the IUI Womens Sports Initiative which promotes research innovation equity and community engagement in womens sports the IU Indianapolis Sports Innovation Institute ( SII ) which integrates academic expertise with entrepreneurial approaches to advance sports technology and innovation Luddy School of Informatics Computing and Engineering Candidates are expected to establish and sustain a productive research agenda using advanced quantitative methodssuch as machine learning computational modeling big-data analytics and wearable technologiesto study tourism hospitality and/or human performance injury prevention or rehabilitation. Responsibilities Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in sport analytics sport management sport tourism sport performance or related domains. Mentor undergraduate masters and doctoral students conducting research in sport performance big-data analytics wearable technology computational modeling and/or large-scale sport or health datasets. Maintain an active research program and pursue external funding with strong potential for interdisciplinary collaboration across IU Indianapolis and the broader sport-science and data-science communities. Collaborate with existing sport analytics resources including performance laboratories wearable-technology initiatives data-science units and sport-industry partners. Contribute to service at the departmental school and university levels. Support diverse learners by employing inclusive evidence-based teaching practices. Applications will be reviewed beginning March 1 2026 and will be accepted until the position is filled. The ideal target starting date is August 1 2026 with tenure clock initiation at the start of AY2026-27 in Fall 2026 .
