ChevronENGINEhas an exciting opportunity foraMarineNautical Instructorto join theSubseaMarine&Shippingteam. Reporting to theManager this role will be based inChevronsofficein Bengaluru.
The Training Instructor is accountable for managing and delivering high-quality training programs at the training center. This role includes scheduling documentation standardization simulator coordination course development and vendor liaison. The instructor ensures that training contentremainsrelevant and aligned with fleet and industry standards while supporting operational and compliance needs.
The instructoris responsible fordelivering simulation-based training to maritime professionals. The role combines classroom instruction with hands-on simulator exercises to ensure compliance with international standards and Chevron procedures.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.
Key responsibilities
Training Program Management
Develop andmaintainthe annual training calendar.
Schedule and manage simulator-based training sessions.
Oversee traininglogisticsand help resolve simulator issues.
Course Development & Delivery
Design update and deliver courses on navigation ship handling collision avoidance and emergency procedures.
Support development of specialized courses (e.g. Marine Terminals).
Create realistic simulation scenarios andoperatemarine simulators (bridge engine room ECDIS radar cargo handling).
Assessment & Competency Management
Assess MAP (Mariner Assessment Program) sessions and trainee performance.
Review and manage mariner critical competencies by rank.
Recommend remediation and training interventions.
Content Review & Continuous Improvement
Revise course content for accuracy relevance and regulatory compliance.
Incorporate lessons learned from fleet operations and industry incidents.
Research and evaluate new training requests and provide feasibility reports.
Accreditation & Compliance
Manage trainingcentreaccreditation.
Ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations and training standards.
Documentation & Standardization
Standardize and improve training documentation (registration joining instructionslogistics).
Develop and revise training materials (course frameworks assessment templates).
Collaborate with internal and external partners to align training delivery.
Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
Coordinate with vendors (e.g. MANWärtsilä) for simulator setup and updates.
Work with HR Finance and Operations on training costs PO approvals and vendor interactions.
Collaboration & Support
Assistfleet teams with remote navigational audits.
Collaborate internally on training compliance and operational matters.

To be considered for this role applicants should have:
Required qualifications:
Certification:STCW-compliant Certificate of Competency (Master Mariner preferred).
Experience:Minimum experience as a Sr. Officer in charge of a navigational watch; command experience is highly valued.
Teaching Credentials:Instructor Development Program or equivalent training in instructional techniques.
Technical Knowledge:Proficiencyin electronic navigation systems ECDIS radar GPS bridge procedures and international regulations (SOLAS MARPOL STCW)
Preferred qualifications:
Sailing Experience:Minimum sailing experience as Master Mariner onboard oil or LNG vessels.
Experience inoperatingadvanced marine simulators and electronic navigation systems (ECDIS radar GPS).
Strong communication time management and ability to create an engaging learning environment.
