Full- Time Substitute / Cover Teacher Position
Sunchild First Nation School has funding for a full-time cover teacher/substitute teacher to be on staff for the remainder of the school year with the opportunity for an extension into the following school year. This is a full-time salaried position.
The successful candidate will provide classroom coverage for teachers from K4 to Grade 12 in the event of illness meetings or professional obligations. When not covering classrooms this individual will conduct one-on-one student assessments to support learning and wellness across the school. Located approximately 60 km northwest of Rocky Mountain House Sunchild First Nation School is a modern K4Grade 12 facility serving approximately 385 students with over 70 staff members. Position: Full-Time Cover Teacher We are seeking a dynamic caring teacher who will provide classroom coverage from K4 to Grade 12 during teacher illness meetings and professional obligations. When not covering classes the successful candidate will support student learning through one-on-one or small-group assessment and intervention.
The ideal candidate:
-Builds strong respectful relationships with students across grade levels
-Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in a variety of classroom settings
-Delivers engaging instruction aligned with the Alberta curriculum when covering classes
-Supports assessment intervention and student learning when not assigned to a classroom
-Values culture diversity and community partnerships
-Is open to working in a First Nation setting using culturally responsive approaches
-Collaborates effectively within a team environment
Teachers must be eligible for Alberta Teachers Certification. New graduates of Bachelor of Education programs are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must provide a Criminal Record Check and an Intervention Record Check as a condition of employment.
The start date for this position is as soon as possible. Interviews will be conducted either in person or via Google Meet depending on the candidates preference.
