Position Overview
We are seeking an Outdoor Educational Consultant to join our Educational Department and play a vital role in delivering our educational programs at various schools and childcare centers across Ontario. You will also be responsible for facilitating engaging hands-on nature play workshops organizing and managing educational materials and moderating and co-hosting virtual workshops webinars and training sessions.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about outdoor education adaptable to dynamic environments and have strong communication skills (written and verbal). This role requires flexibility creativity and the ability to adapt to changing environments and schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitation
- Lead and assist in the delivery of in-person nature play workshops for children and educators promoting the educational and developmental benefits of outdoor play.
Logistics & Setup
- Coordinate the preparation loading and setup of loose part materials and curriculum tools (e.g. planks milk crates ropes stumps) at workshop sites.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 24 kg.
Environmental Adaptability
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions ensuring safety and comfort for participants.
Client Consultation
- Engage and consult with clients during workshops to customize the experience to their specific needs and goals.
Virtual Training
- Co-host and moderate virtual webinars and workshops via Zoom providing support to participants and ensuring smooth operation.
Travel & Scheduling
- Travel to various sites across Ontario including potential overnight stays.
- Early morning start times (6 am-7 am) and occasional weekend work required.
Sales and Marketing Support
- Assist the sales and marketing team with client outreach.
- Use Adobe Illustrator to design handouts and educational materials.
- Support content creation for blogs and newsletters.
Administrative Support
- Take notes during educational sessions and organize documentation.
- Provide general office and administrative support as required.
- Assist the Director of Education with company-wide initiatives.
Qualifications
- Has an Early Childhood Education Diploma (ECE) or Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) certification.
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) certification is required.
- Valid CPR Level C and First Aid certification.
- A valid G drivers license.
- Passionate about working with young children and the outdoors.
- Previous experience in Outdoor Education is an asset.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Good active listening skills.
- Represents the company in a professional manner.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) are required.
- Proficient in Google Suite and Zoom; Adobe Suite (Illustrator) is an asset.
