Job Summary

This position is responsible for provision of Advanced Practice Provider services to patients in an outpatient and inpatient setting. The position will work as part of a care team at both the UNLV Health outpatient clinic as well as Inpatient hospital settings. Our patient care model includes faculty residents and students.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a masters degree
License in the State of Nevada as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) / Physician Assistant (PA) or ability to be licensed prior to the start date
Bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Works in conjunction with Physicians administrative management nursing and other interprofessional team members to facilitate patient care and management throughout the health care system
Exercises independent judgment in the assessment diagnosis and initiation of medical processes and procedures commensurate with training and experience
Performs and documents comprehensive health histories and physical assessments to include initiation of CPR or other appropriate emergency therapy as needed
Formulates diagnoses identifies problems and health risk profiles documents and clearly communicates with other members of the health care team
Performs orders and interprets diagnostic studies such as x-rays and laboratory tests in consultation with peers and colleagues
Assumes a proactive role in patient/family education and patient/family satisfaction in the practice setting
Assumes personal accountability to enhance the patient experience by using high quality patient satisfaction-directed interactions/tools/activities in the execution of duties
Always interacts with patients and families in a compassionate and respectful manner at all times
Participates in training of staff students and residents; and as requested by Department Chair Division Chief supervisors mentors and provides education on areas of expertise

May include lifting up to 25 pounds
