A well-established construction firm specializing in public-sector infrastructure projects is seeking an experiencedProject Managerto join its growing management team. The organization has over two decades of experience delivering heavy civil highway bridge and underground utility projects for federal state and local government clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The company employs several hundred professionals across operations project management engineering safety and corporate support functions.
Position Overview
The Project Manager will be responsible for managing all phases of assigned heavy civil and utility construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. Projects typically range from$2M to $50Mand include roadway bridge water wastewater and storm infrastructure work. This role focuses on project execution coordination and client interface rather than direct personnel supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee overall project administration scheduling coordination and execution
- Maintain responsibility for project safety quality cost control and schedule adherence
- Prepare and manage project schedules submittals subcontracts and procurement activities
- Track project progress quantities budgets and forecasts
- Prepare monthly billings cost reports and project documentation
- Review plans and specifications; identify risks conflicts and constructability issues
- Generate RFIs and change order proposals including pricing and justification
- Coordinate and communicate with owners inspectors subcontractors and suppliers
- Lead and participate in project meetings with clients and stakeholders
- Support field teams by clarifying drawings specifications and scope requirements
- Maintain organized and accurate project records and closeout documentation
- Foster strong working relationships with clients and internal teams
- Perform special assignments or initiatives as required by leadership
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Construction Management or a related discipline (preferred)
- Minimum7 years of heavy civil and/or utility construction project management experience
- Experience managing projects forfederal state and/or local government agencies
- Prior experience with transportation or DOT-related projects strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of underground utilities roadway construction paving bridges and related civil scopes
- Proficiency in construction scheduling and reporting tools (e.g. Primavera P6 MS Project)
- Strong blueprint reading and technical documentation skills
- Working knowledge of CAD and construction-related software
- Excellent communication organization and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
