About The Team

The Personalised Medicine Centre formerly the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Innovative Therapeutics is a joint initiative between Murdoch University and the Perron Institute combining cutting-edge laboratory research with clinical expertise. Our multidisciplinary team is dedicated to advancing personalised medicine developing treatment tailored to individual patients based on their unique genetics and lifestyle.

Our research addresses critical healthcare challenges including genetic therapies genomic motor neurone disease sepsis immunogenomics drug hypersensitivity cognitive health muscular dystrophy and neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinsons disease myositis and multiple sclerosis.

The Research Fellow will lead a research portfolio on inflammatory myopathies (myositis) within the Myositis Discovery Programme (MDP). This role involves advancing laboratory-based translational research setting strategic direction for the group and contributing expertise in myositis research. The Fellow will also supervise honours and postgraduate students support teaching within the discipline and undertake administrative and service responsibilities across the College and University.

Your key responsibilities will include

• Conduct advanced laboratory procedures in flow cytometry molecular biology cell biology and biochemistry
• Drive high-quality research projects secure competitive funding and publish impactful findings aligned with the Universitys strategic vision
• Provide academic leadership through student supervision knowledge sharing and active engagement in institutional activities

This Fixed Term (12 Months) Part time (30 hours per week) attracts a remuneration of $113247.00 $134148.00 (pro rata) plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What youll bring to the role:

• PhD in a relevant field and substantial experience in the discipline including at least two years of postdoctoral or equivalent professional work
• Proven ability to conduct high-quality independent research with strong publication record and success in securing research funding
• Ability to work autonomously under broad direction show initiative and contribute effectively as part of a team
• Commitment and capability to supervise honours postgraduate and HDR students
• High-level written and oral communication skills in English
