Job Summary

Role: Teaching Assistant

Location: Writhlington School

Start Date: As soon as possible

Interview Date:Thursday 5 February 2026

Hours: 34 hours per week 08:30-15:30 (16:30 on Tues for CPD) Term time plus 5 INSET days

Salary:Grade 2 - SCP 4 - 5 - 13.05 - 13.26 per hour

Yearly Full-Time Equivalent: 25185 - 26403

Yearly Actual Salary: 19884 - 20198

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Teaching Assistant who will support SEN students within the classroom and who can also lead individual/small group interventions.

Support for students may include:

  • Attend to the pupils personal needs and implement related personal programmes including social health physical hygiene first aid and welfare matters as appropriate.
  • Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning.
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.
  • Develop a good knowledge of a pupils individual special educational needs and implement appropriate strategies as outlined in the students profile.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the Teacher.
  • Encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate.
  • To provide pastoral support for pupils as directed by the SENDCo Tutor or Head of Year.
