Job Summary

Position: Special Education Teacher (Mod/Severe)

Position Details: This position will be working with elementary grades 2-4.

EssentialFunctions andResponsibilities:

Ability to build good relationships with children parents Teachers and Social Workers
Ability to work 1:1 or in small groups with students
Ability to work well with children from different backgrounds who have different abilities
Well-organized and self-driven to devise and adopt new techniques for teaching and keeping the student(s) on task
Ability to manage challenging behavior
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Compassionate kind and patient with kids
Excellent leader and mentor for students
Strong attention to detail and an inquisitive mind to understand each individual student
Ability to assist students in meeting their academic goals as set forth in the IEP.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:

Must have a strong desire to work with a wide array of student (age race ethnicityetc).
Be highly flexible and agile (we are living and working in a very dynamic time right now).
Be highly collaborative team-oriented and customer service driven.

Licensing/Credential and/or Education Requirements:

Masters degree in the field of Special Education preferred.
Either certified in mild to moderate special education or moderate to severe.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand walk and sit frequently or for prolonged periods of time.
Additionally physicalabilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 25 pounds. Stooping/crouching reaching/handling/fingering talking/hearing conversations and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field ofvision.
