The Group Manager HSE will be responsible for the strategic leadership development implementation and continuous improvement of HSE policies systems and culture across all subsidiaries and business locations. This role ensures regulatory compliance risk mitigation sustainability integration and the creation of safe healthy and environmentally responsible workplaces and operations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in aligning HSE practices with global standards while considering local operational realities across subsidiaries and locations in Nigeria.
- Provide strategic leadership for group-wide HSE strategy culture and continuous improvement across all subsidiaries and locations.
- Develop and implement HSE policies procedures and standards in compliance with Nigerian regulations and international best practices (ISO 45001 ISO 14001).
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies including NESREA NOSDRA LASEPA NAFDAC FMEnv and NMDPRA.
- Lead risk assessments hazard analysis environmental impact assessments audits inspections and incident investigations and track CAPA.
- Establish HSE KPIs metrics dashboards and reporting systems for all business units.
- Design and deliver HSE training programs and awareness campaigns across all operational levels and functions.
- Provide sector-specific HSE oversight across agribusiness healthcare logistics/transport fintech/office environments and oil marketing operations.
- Oversee emergency preparedness incident response permit-to-work systems and business continuity planning.
- Drive sustainability and environmental stewardship initiatives including waste reduction energy efficiency water management carbon tracking and ESG reporting.
- Build and lead HSE teams while coordinating with Operations HR Legal Compliance and Facilities across the group.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Engineering Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline; Masters degree is an advantage.
- Recognized HSE certifications such as NEBOSH IOSH and/or ISO 14001/45001 Lead Auditor.
- 1215 years of progressive HSE experience including at least 5 years in a senior or group-level leadership role.
- Proven experience managing HSE across multi-sector operations including manufacturing/agro-processing oil marketing logistics/transport healthcare and corporate environments.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian HSE laws and international safety and environmental standards.
- Proven leadership stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination capabilities.
- Strong analytical investigation and risk management skills.
- Excellent communication and training delivery skills within complex multi-site organizations.
