JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Occupancy Technician II Section 8 Program
Supervisor: Rental Assistance Manager
Working Conditions: Non-exempt; 52 weeks; flexible schedule as necessary; travel as required
SCOPE:
Assist in assuring the efficient operation of the Section 8 Rent Assistance Program by interviewing clients and performing eligibility determinations program reporting and other related functions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- One-year advanced training in management business social work or a related field with three years of related practical experience; or
- Bachelors degree in social work management business or a related field
Knowledge of area social service agencies and resources the ability to relate to other workers clients with multiple barriers and the general public. Incumbent must be able to take direction maintain confidentiality and perform in a trustworthy and ethical manner.
Knowledge of personal computers Microsoft Excel and Word accounting software and electronic communications. Strong written and verbal communications. Required to obtain HCV Specialist certification within one year. Possess a valid drivers license.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assemble verified information and prepare Section 8 application for certification.
- Conduct interviews with prospective and current program participants.
- Determine verifications needed to accurately evaluate applicants eligibility.
- Prepare and submit verifications to appropriate sources.
- Determine need for interim rent changes and complete all established and required processing procedures.
- Establish and maintain contact with other human service delivery agencies and inform and refer clients as appropriate.
- Assist in researching developing maintaining and revising department forms procedures and control systems as needed.
- Establish contacts with landlords or section 8 HAP Existing program explain program purpose and explain contract documents for execution.
- Prepare reports maintain files and records and prepare checks.
- Other such tasks as may be assigned by management.
