Summary

This role provides supervision coordination and disposition of the assets assigned to Simplot Transportation for a designated terminal to insure customer product movement needs are met and they are consistent with Company standards for quality cost and service requirements to and for our customers. Responsible for generating market development activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for identifying and developing profitable market development opportunities. Responsible for sales pricing and market analysis. Responsible for managing business relationships with contract carriers and other vendors to maximize company profitability.
  • Responsible for managing compliance with all required business unit company and regulatory agency policies and procedures. Agencies include DOT OSHA and EPA. Business unit includes Merit Bonus Program Cumulative Safety Program and Operating Safety Rules.
  • Responsible for maximizing fleet productivity to achieve lowest operating costs consistent with customer service requirements. Supervises maintenance and repair of assets to ensure the defined maintenance goals are achieved consistently and operating schedules are met.
  • Monitors performance against schedule and modifies schedule to meet changing plant requirements during the shift. Schedules all assets at the assigned terminal including but not limited to over 125 types of commodities ranging from bulk to temp sensitive products. Utilizes appropriate types of equipment such as versatile trailers tankers vans reefers flatbeds etc. Supervises all dispatchers drivers and yardmen at assigned terminal.
  • Maintains contact with retailers on product delivery and with the merchandising department on the receiving of products.
  • Responsible for supervising hourly employees at an assigned terminal; this includes performance reviews rewarding and disciplining employees addressing employee complaints and resolving employee problems utilizing other resources such as HR when needed.
  • Analyzes distribution procedures to help ensure efficiency in deliveries.
  • Monitors and evaluates the expectations and performances of the distribution staff.

Typical Education

Bachelors Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

5 years related experience and/or training
