Job Summary

Job Summary:

The VP Finance plays a key role in the organizations financial management function and is responsible for overseeing financial operations and ensuring regulatory compliance for a portfolio of business units (TBEI) located across the US and Canada. This role involves managing financial reporting budgeting and forecasting while also ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SOX regulations.

In addition to financial oversight the VP plays a crucial role in team leadership and development mentoring junior staff and fostering a collaborative work environment. This position requires extensive experience in financial management particularly within publicly traded companies and a deep understanding of SEC reporting requirements.

This position is based in Homewood AL and reports to the President TBEI.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Vice President of Finance provides direct leadership and oversight to five Divisional Controllers and one Financial Analyst. This role is responsible for hiring training performance management coaching and professional development of the finance team while fostering a collaborative high-performance culture aligned with organizational goals.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

    Financial Management

    • Oversee the financial operations including budgeting forecasting and financial reporting
    • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
    • Manage the process and finalization of monthly quarterly and annual financial reports

    Audit and Compliance

    • Lead the internal and external audit process and coordinate with auditors and business Controllers to ensure timely completion of each audit
    • Provide technical accounting GAAP guidance and support to all company entities
    • Oversee the preparation of financial statements and reports
    • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) by implementing and monitoring internal controls conducting regular risk assessments and ensuring accurate financial reporting

    Team Leadership and Development

    • Oversee the activities of business controllers and other financial staff
    • Foster a collaborative environment and work closely with senior management and other departments
    • Develop and mentor team members providing guidance and support to enhance their professional growth
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
    • Implement training programs to ensure the team is up to date with the latest financial regulations and best practices
    • Participate in the hiring and onboarding of new Finance & Accounting team members

    Additional

    • Experience evaluating potential acquisitions including due diligence negotiation and integration processes
    • Partner with key stakeholders across the organization to assess financial results and develop key financial strategies in support of business objectives
    • Participate in the annual operating plan development process
    • Other projects or initiatives that support the development of the team and/or growth of the business

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Exceptional financial acumen and ability to analyze and translate financial data into strategic recommendations
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel & Powerpoint skills; familiar with various ERP systems specifically Syteline an asset
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and business units
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced dynamic environment
    • Strong leadership skills to guide mentor and motivate a team
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy of work
    • Ability to adapt to changes effectively in the industry regulations or to changes in the business environment

    Experience:

    • 15 years of combined Public/Private Industry accounting experience in a $100 million plus manufacturing organization or business unit
    • Extensive experience in financial management including budgeting forecasting audit and financial analysis
    • Proven track record in leading financial operations and teams including accounts payable and receivable
    • Strong working experience/knowledge US GAAP and SOX Compliance
    • Knowledge of full-cycle accounting consolidation and general practices including audit treasury and financial systems
    • Standard cost accounting experience required

    Education/Certification:

    • Masters or bachelors degree in accounting finance or related field
    • CPA designation is strongly preferred

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
    • Travel up to 30% (Able to travel throughout the US and Canada)
