Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Solid Waste Management Engineerto support the delivery of solid waste management circular economy and environmental compliance projects within multidisciplinary teams across Canada.

This role is focused on technical delivery and project execution supporting feasibility studies waste audits waste management plans and regulatory compliance activities. The engineer will contribute to projects primarily serving municipal public parapublic and institutional clients with exposure to industrial mining Indigenous and remote contexts.

The position offers strong opportunities for professional growth while contributing to impactful real-world waste management solutions.

Your role

  • Participate in projects for municipal public parapublic institutional and industrial clients;

  • Contribute to the preparation of solid waste management plans (SWMP / RMMP);

  • Support feasibility studies technical assessments and system optimization initiatives;

  • Participate in projects related to composting anaerobic digestion recycling Waste-to-Energy and circular economy;

  • Conduct quantification of material streams;

  • Support projects involving construction renovation and demolition (CRD) waste including:

    • Pre-demolition audits

    • CRD waste inventories and quantification

    • CRD waste management plans

    • Recovery and diversion strategies;

  • Support the optimization of waste management infrastructures such as: ecocentres landfill compositing platforms. and existing waste management systems;

  • Collaborate with contractors consultants and construction teams;

  • Support the preparation of applications for ministerial and regulatory authorizations;

  • Contribute to regulatory monitoring and compliance analysis;

  • Draft technical reports plans and procedures;

  • Ensure follow-up on schedules budgets and deliverables under the guidance of senior staff;

  • Coordinate specific technical activities with sub-consultants as required;

  • Contribute to the preparation of service proposals including technical sections and effort estimates.

About you

  • Bachelors degree in engineering (mechanical environmental or related discipline);

  • Masters degree (asset);

  • Engineer and member of the OIQ;

  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in solid waste management or environmental projects;

  • Practical experience in the municipal public parapublic or institutional sectors;

  • Experience with waste audits waste management plans Construction & Demolition projects recycling and composting projects;

  • Strong analytical and technical writing abilities;

  • Organization rigor and teamwork;

  • Availability for occasional travel within Canada;

  • Motivation for professional development and growth;

  • Bilingual French / English*.

*This position requires knowledge of another language besides French namely English as you will be part of a Canadian global or regional management team and will need to collaborate with colleagues across Canada.
