Whatsthe job
Provide expert employment and industrial relations counsel to the Torrens Global Education (TGE) group across Australia New Zealand and other operatingjurisdictions. Lead the management of employment disputes deliver strategic advice implement legislative changes and oversee matters briefed to external counsel
Day-to-day accountabilities:
Lead complexemployment and industrial relations matters including enterprise bargaining disputes litigation and representation before the Fair Work Commission and courts
Provide trustedlegal and strategic adviceto senior leaders on employment risk disputes and regulatory compliance aligned to the Universitys risk appetite
Draft negotiate and settleenterprise agreements court documents deeds of releasepoliciesand employment frameworksin line withorganisationalobjectives
Manage and instructexternal legal counsel and regulators ensuring high-quality cost-effective outcomes across investigations and proceedings
Proactivelyidentifylegal and regulatory risksmonitorlegislative change and mentor legal team members while contributing to HR leadership and governance
This is a permanentfull timerole with hybrid working arrangements.
Who you are:To be successful in this role you will have:
Ability to work withhigh levelof autonomy within arelatively smallteam. There is a need to prioritise complex issues and manage changing stakeholder expectations with limited resources.
Experience working in tighttimeframesandprovidingsound strategic advice.
Excellent organisational skills anda high levelof attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience interacting with various stakeholders to ensure that policies and processes are followed
Ability to interact with all levels of the organisation and be a positive ambassador for the Legal Department
