Lead Aviation Maintenance Instructor WFD-FAC-11426
Applications are being accepted for immediate vacancies on the Faculty for individuals seeking to serve as Aviation Maintenance Instructors. There are two full-time and two part-time positions available. HVCC is in the process of starting up a Part 147 Aviation Mechanic Technician School (AMTS) at the Albany International Airport.
In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not sponsor Visas. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check and the ability to hold a SIDA badge.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Current FAA Mechanic Certification with both Airframe and Powerplant ratings AND at least three years experience exercising the privileges of both the Airframe and Powerplant mechanic certificate ratings as indicated by 14 CFR Part 65.83.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS in Aviation Maintenance Aviation science or related field preferred or Associates Degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology or other related technical service field. Experience with both commercial and general aviation fixed wing and rotorcraft. Experience teaching aviation maintenance curriculum in accordance with the FAAs Aviation Maintenance Technician Airmen Certification Standards (ACS). Related military experience will be considered in lieu of general aviation experience.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Aviation Maintenance Instructor is located primarily at HVCCs ATI at the Albany International Airport and reports to the Aeronautical Technical Institute (ATI) Director and Lead Instructor. The selected individual will conduct instruction instruction as well as assist/advise with the operation and maintenance of a Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician School including:
- Provide quality face-to-face instruction in all Aviation Maintenance subject areas to include General Airframe and Powerplant classes as outlined in the accepted 14 CFR Part 147 AMTS curriculum to include day and evening instruction to a diverse student population in a manner consistent with FAA and SUNY standards;
- Evaluate student performance pursuant to established FAA standards (Airmen Certification Standards);
- Develop and teach an Experienced Mechanic FAA Test Preparation course for experienced non-certificated aircraft mechanics and transitioning military personnel to obtain federal certification for their developed skills;
- Develop and teach an Aviation Maintenance Pre-Apprenticeship Program;
- Schedule ATI instructors and lab technicians;
- Recruit prospective students help organize and attend scheduled Open House dates and provide facility tours;
- Collaborate with Director and Lead Instructor on the development of a broad vision for the expansion and development of the ATI to include additional maintenance programs;
- Assist in the facility FOD and Safety programs;
- Track and order necessary program supplies training aids and equipment as necessary;
- Assist in the maintenance of program certification in accordance with 14 CFR Part 147;
- Participate in program planning and review;
- Address and resolve student issues as necessary;
- Collaborate on curriculum and program development including creating revising and updating course projects assignments and assessments;
- Maintain all necessary student records in accordance with HVCC SUNY and FAA 14 CFR Part 147 requirements;
- Provide professional counselling to students as appropriate to each students situation;
- Evaluate student performance; and
- Voluntarily participate in departmental division wide and college wide committees for the purpose of building community and fulfilling aspirations of professional development which is encouraged and supported.
The Salary for Full-Time Instructor is $84000
The hourly rate for Part-Time Instructor is $50.00
