Job Summary

Job Description:

A Building Caretaker is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness safety and security of a building or facility. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of residential commercial or industrial properties. The Building Caretaker will work on-site and will be the main point of contact for addressing maintenance issues and supporting the needs of tenants or facility users.

Responsibilities:

Perform routine inspection of building premises to identify any maintenance needs or safety issues.
Conduct regular maintenance tasks such as minor repairs cleaning of common areas and general upkeep.
Respond promptly to tenant or facility user requests for maintenance repairs or assistance.
Coordinate with external contractors for major repairs or specialized maintenance requirements.
Ensure all building systems are operating efficiently including HVAC plumbing and electrical systems.
Maintain logs and records of maintenance activities and incidents.
Enforce building rules and regulations to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
Perform security checks to ensure the premises are secure.
Manage waste disposal and recycling programs.
Assist in emergency situations providing guidance and support to tenants and coordinating with emergency services as necessary.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
1-2 years of experience in building maintenance or a similar role.
Basic understanding of electrical plumbing and HVAC systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects when necessary.
Familiarity with safety regulations and building codes.

Requirements:

Full-time availability with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends if necessary.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and maintenance.
Reliable and punctual with the ability to manage time effectively.
A valid drivers license may be required depending on the location of the property.
