Job Description:
A Building Caretaker is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness safety and security of a building or facility. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of residential commercial or industrial properties. The Building Caretaker will work on-site and will be the main point of contact for addressing maintenance issues and supporting the needs of tenants or facility users.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspection of building premises to identify any maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Conduct regular maintenance tasks such as minor repairs cleaning of common areas and general upkeep.
- Respond promptly to tenant or facility user requests for maintenance repairs or assistance.
- Coordinate with external contractors for major repairs or specialized maintenance requirements.
- Ensure all building systems are operating efficiently including HVAC plumbing and electrical systems.
- Maintain logs and records of maintenance activities and incidents.
- Enforce building rules and regulations to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
- Perform security checks to ensure the premises are secure.
- Manage waste disposal and recycling programs.
- Assist in emergency situations providing guidance and support to tenants and coordinating with emergency services as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience in building maintenance or a similar role.
- Basic understanding of electrical plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects when necessary.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and building codes.
Requirements:
- Full-time availability with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends if necessary.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and maintenance.
- Reliable and punctual with the ability to manage time effectively.
- A valid drivers license may be required depending on the location of the property.
