Are you a wet lab scientist with a passion for emerging sequencing technologies and bio-banking

Were hiring a Research Technician III to play a central role in daytoday operations across the Manitoba Tumour Bank (MTB) and the Manitoba Research Genomics Platform supporting highimpact translational research projects and nextgeneration sequencing workflows (Illumina and Oxford Nanopore PromethION).

Working under general supervision youll bring strong handson lab skills organize and schedule your own work to meet milestones and help drive quality in wet lab genomics biobanking and method implementation.

About the CCMB Manitoba Tumour Bank & Genomics Platforms

Located at the interface of fundamental and clinical research CCMBs platforms support omicsdriven studies in cancer combining inhouse sequencing (Illumina and Nanopore) advanced wet lab workflows and leading-edge bio-banking and cell processing.

We collaborate across provincial and national initiatives and support local clinical academic and translational partners with robust biobanking and sequencing services.

Your Role

Joint MTB & Genomics Platform Responsibilities

  • Communicate with users; coordinate sample intake and organize submitted biosamples.
  • Process liquid and solid biospecimens for storage and downstream cellular/nucleic acid analyses.
  • Perform flow cytometry FACS MACS and related biosample separation/analysis workflows.
  • Prepare NGS libraries for applications such as RNAseq and wholegenome sequencing.
  • Perform QC on nucleic acids and sequencing libraries (e.g. Agilent Tapestation or similar).
  • Operate nextgeneration sequencing instruments such as Illumina NextSeq 2000.
  • Catalogue MTB patient biosamples and associated clinical data; enter records into registries/databases.

Support platform operations through inventory & ordering equipment maintenance billing for users platform promotion/outreach and other activities that sustain operations.

What You Bring

  • Masters degree in a related discipline or Bachelors degree with minimum 3 years directly related experience. An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR).
  • Experience with nextgeneration sequencing (library prep; operation of NGS instruments).
  • Experience working with human tumour samples or blood separation.
  • Experience with tissue culture creation and maintenance of 3-D cultures (ie. tumorspheres spheroids organoids etc) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with flow cytometry.
