Job Summary

A well-led and supportive 1118 secondary school in Ilkeston is seeking a History Teacher to join its Humanities department from January 2026. This role is particularly well suited to an Early Career Teacher looking for a confident and structured start to their teaching career.

History is a popular subject within the school with a clear and carefully sequenced curriculum designed to support both student progress and teacher development. The department has a strong record of mentoring ECTs and values reflective practice and collaboration.

The role will involve:

  • Teaching History across KS3KS4

  • Delivering lessons focused on enquiry source analysis and extended writing

  • Using shared schemes of work and centralised assessments

  • Working closely with an experienced subject mentor

ECT support includes:

  • Structured CPD focused on behaviour planning and assessment

  • A calm well-managed classroom environment

This is an excellent opportunity for a History ECT who wants to develop strong foundations in a school that genuinely invests in its early career staff.
