Summary
The Tooling Manager leads tooling engineering preventive maintenance systems and new tooling projects to support production and new product launches. This role manages cost timing quality and performance of tooling while providing technical leadership to the tool room and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage tooling projects from design through launch ensuring manufacturability cost control and schedule adherence
Develop and maintain preventive maintenance (PM) systems for tooling
Track tooling budgets capital expenditures and cost justifications
Support new product launches through PFDs FMEAs and production trials
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for tooling quality and processing issues
Lead supervise and develop Tool Room personnel
Design or support fixtures gauges and tooling improvements
Select and manage tooling suppliers and external tool shops
Drive continuous improvement in safety quality cost and ergonomics
Quality & Compliance
Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 ISO standards and internal quality systems
Support audits root cause analysis corrective actions and work instructions
Safety & Environment
Promote safe work practices PPE compliance and ergonomic improvements
Support environmental and energy management initiatives
Qualifications
5 years tool & die experience (injection molding required)
Progressive tooling experience required
Proven leadership or supervisory experience
Journeyman certification Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
Strong organizational problem-solving and communication skills
Work Environment
Manufacturing setting with hands-on tooling involvement
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs regularly (60 lbs as needed)
PPE required
