Job Title: Java Backend Developer (AWS)

Location: Plano TX Onsite

Job Summary

Capital One is seeking a Java Backend Developer with strong AWS experience to design develop and support highly scalable cloud-native backend systems. The role focuses on building secure resilient microservices using Java and AWS aligned with Capital Ones engineering and DevSecOps standards.

Key Responsibilities

Design develop and maintain Java-based backend applications
Build and support microservices architecture using Spring Boot
Develop RESTful APIs and backend services
Implement cloud-native solutions on AWS
Work with AWS services such as:
- EC2 S3 Lambda
- ECS / EKS
- API Gateway
- RDS / DynamoDB
- CloudWatch
Ensure application security scalability and performance
Implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins GitHub Actions or similar
Follow DevSecOps best practices and Capital One engineering standards
Collaborate with product owners architects and frontend teams
Participate in code reviews unit testing and troubleshooting
Support production deployments and on-call rotations if required

Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong experience in Java (Java 8)
Hands-on experience with Spring Boot Spring MVC Spring Security
Strong backend development experience
Solid experience with AWS cloud services
Experience with microservices and distributed systems
Knowledge of REST APIs JSON HTTP
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with Git Maven/Gradle
Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Nice to Have

Experience working in financial services or banking domains
Knowledge of Capital One engineering practices
Exposure to Terraform / CloudFormation
Experience with event-driven architecture (Kafka / SNS / SQS)
Knowledge of security standards (OAuth2 JWT encryption)
