DIS Copenhagen is currently hiring an external faculty to teach the elective courseEpidemiology: Danish Case Studiesto highly motivated undergraduate students from North American universities who are spending a semester studying in Copenhagen. The teaching position will begin in August course meets at DIS Copenhagen Tuesdays and Fridays 14:50-16:10and there are two academic half-day field studies on Wednesdays during the semester.
Course description: Epidemiology is a cornerstone of public health science. Through case studies including the recent outbreak of COVID-19 the central concepts of epidemiology epidemiological research and reasoning come to life. Throughout the course you analyze and assess epidemiologic studies of the Danish population and explore the value of the renowned Danish population-based registers. You also discuss how epidemiology contributes to the large body of public health research and informs decision making in the field.

Teaching Requirements
The course meets at DIS Copenhagen Tuesdays and Fridays 14:50-16:10
The total course load includes 23 80-minute sessions and two half-day Field Studies for the semester plus grading and feedback.
As this is a part-time teaching position faculty are able to continue other work while teaching.
Start Date
Training onboarding and course preparation will begin upon hiring. The Fall 2026 semester begins August 21 2026.
Teaching at DIS
Teaching at DIS requires creativity and flexibility. Faculty prioritize bringing course material to life through interactive and experiential learning and are communicative and engaged with their addition teaching at DIS involves leading student Field Studies in the Copenhagen region student assessment grading and feedback.
Students are typically in their third year of university. Courses are all taught in English.
Pedagogical support training and mentorship is available at DIS through the Learning Lab and experienced faculty; faculty are encouraged to collaborate with academic support staff in various professional development opportunities.
