We are hiring a Bariatric - Clinical Nurse Specialist for a Hospital in Dublin Ireland
Responsibilities
Prepare patients for surgery through comprehensive pre-operative assessments education programmes and readiness evaluations.
Deliver post-operative care including inpatient reviews wound management and early identification of complications.
Manage patient enquiries via phone and email ensuring timely advice and ongoing follow-up.
Coordinate multidisciplinary team (MDT) scheduling and maintain effective communication with internal and external services.
Lead and facilitate pre-admission and discharge education sessions for patients and families.
Provide emotional and psychological support to patients throughout the bariatric care pathway.
Mentor and support ward and nursing staff in bariatric care protocols and safe manual handling practices.
Conduct audits and research to evaluate patient outcomes and maintain the bariatric patient registry including national reporting requirements.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives accreditation processes health promotion activities and hospital-wide audit programmes.
Maintain professional standards by adhering to NMBI Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics participating in CPD committees and pursuing relevant postgraduate qualifications.
Requirements
Relevant postgraduate qualification at Level 8 or higher in bariatric nursing obesity management or a related clinical area.
Commitment to undertaking a Level 9 qualification in Advanced Nursing Practice.
Active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Additional qualifications in clinical leadership or healthcare management are desirable.
Minimum of five years post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting.
At least two years experience in bariatric surgical or obesity-related clinical care.
Excellent verbal written and presentation communication skills.
Strong teaching and mentoring abilities with experience supporting clinical staff development.
Demonstrated clinical judgement critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to multi-task effectively and perform under pressure in a dynamic clinical environment.
