JOB DESCRIPTION:
Esperanza Cyber Charter School (ECCS) located in North Philadelphia is currently accepting applications for a 10-month Home and School Truancy Specialist position. The Home and School Truancy Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting student attendance and welfare by working closely with students parents school personnel and community agencies. The specialist addresses attendance issues conducts home visits and coordinates with various agencies to ensure students are attending school regularly and receiving the support they need.

ECCS will provide students with an academically rigorous yet flexible online learning program that tailors learning experiences to each child through curriculum choices virtual tutoring and counseling. ECCS targets underserved and at-risk students who have not always found success in traditional schools. ECCS places students on a pathway to post-secondary success.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree required
- 2-4 years of experience in an education setting required
- Experience working with students and parents in a related position.
- Bilingual (Spanish and English fluency) preferred
- Demonstrated leadership skills

- Current FBI fingerprints PA Criminal and Child Abuse background checks
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Investigate non-attendance to ensure the legality of absence excuses.
- Enforce district rules and regulations related to school attendance areas.
- Conduct home visits
- Communicate with families and students about truancy-related issues
- Engage students and families who have identified barriers to attendance discipline and corrective actions.
- Monitor student attendance records and identify patterns of absenteeism.
- Ensure compliance with state and local attendance laws and regulations including taking legal action when necessary.
- Develop and implement intervention plans to support students who are frequently absent coordinating with teachers counselors and social workers to provide necessary resources.
- Collaborate with school staff parents community organizations and law enforcement to address truancy issues.
- Maintain detailed records of interventions and outcomes related to truancy cases documenting all communications and actions taken.
- Educate students parents and the community about the importance of regular school attendance and the consequences of truancy.
- Support preventive measures such as attendance incentives mentoring programs and peer support groups.
- Manage and work with school security software (Gaggle and GoGuardian) to promptly address student safety and behaviors.
- Conduct home visits to address attendance issues and support student welfare.
- Act as a liaison between the school and community agencies such as public and private welfare psychiatric and law enforcement agencies.
- Support and manage AIC meetings and provide ongoing support to students.
- Be a member of the attendance committee responsible for managing referrals to school support.
- Communicate with families and students who are on their 3-6 day absence (the next day).
- Support in the SAP program to assist our students who need help.
- Support in implementing and managing ProjectGo
- Support students and families experiencing homelessness (McKinney Vento) and support these families via ECYEH resources and ARP funds.
- Attend workshops and professional development sessions on climate and behavior-enhancing programs and initiatives.
- Become certified when necessary
- Help with duties of the attendance team when necessary
- Perform other duties as directed by school supervisor or district administration.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working.
- Constant hand finger and arm use and excellent eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to hear clearly and speak intelligibly.
- To occasionally function in activities involving walking bending squatting reaching and climbing stairs.
- To occasionally stand for extended periods.
- Ability to see and perform visual activities such as closing paperwork using a computer monitor reading and writing.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to come onsite for all required days.
