Description
Job Summary:
The Packaging Associate will packaging the Companys products and sometimes receive raw goods and manufacture products as well.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Packaging ready-to-eat products smoked and cured products.
- Boxing and packing all meats and building pallets.
- Able to document and keep accurate records of working inventory and provide them to Manager.
- Maintains a variety of products while conforming to the production standard.
- Operates all slicing and packaging equipment including cryovac machnines.
- Handles damaged and spoiled products according to Company policy.
- Complies with safety policies and procedures; notifies manager of any potential hazard immediately.
- May perform other miscellaneous tasks assigned by managers necessary to provide products and services to customers during peak periods of business.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to understand and meet USDA standards for health and safety.
- Ability to remain alert and focused in an environment that is noisy and fast-paced.
- Ability to disassemble clean and reassemble all equipment as part of the sanitation process.
- Ability to work effectively with kitchen staff.
- Detail-oriented and thorough.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Excellent active listening skills.
- Basic knife skills.
- Proficient in taking directions.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous kitchen experience preferred but not required.
- Basic food knowledge.
- State motor vehicle operators permit for operation of forklift highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to traverse distribution warehouse and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching squatting and reaching.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to work in variable cold and hot environments and be comfortable working with meat.
