Job Summary:

The Packaging Associate will packaging the Companys products and sometimes receive raw goods and manufacture products as well.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Packaging ready-to-eat products smoked and cured products.
Boxing and packing all meats and building pallets.
Able to document and keep accurate records of working inventory and provide them to Manager.
Maintains a variety of products while conforming to the production standard.
Operates all slicing and packaging equipment including cryovac machnines.
Handles damaged and spoiled products according to Company policy.
Complies with safety policies and procedures; notifies manager of any potential hazard immediately.
May perform other miscellaneous tasks assigned by managers necessary to provide products and services to customers during peak periods of business.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills & Abilities:

Ability to understand and meet USDA standards for health and safety.
Ability to remain alert and focused in an environment that is noisy and fast-paced.
Ability to disassemble clean and reassemble all equipment as part of the sanitation process.
Ability to work effectively with kitchen staff.
Detail-oriented and thorough.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Excellent active listening skills.
Basic knife skills.
Proficient in taking directions.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous kitchen experience preferred but not required.
Basic food knowledge.
State motor vehicle operators permit for operation of forklift highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to traverse distribution warehouse and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching squatting and reaching.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Must be able to work in variable cold and hot environments and be comfortable working with meat.
