Job Summary
A vacancy may arise for a Squadron Leader (Regiment) to serve as SO2 Combat and Readiness Force (CRF) Reserves on No. 3 Force Protection (FP) Wg HQ at RAF Marham on Part Time Volunteer Reserve (PTVR) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 25 May 2026.
The Combat & Readiness Force (CRF) mission is to DEFEND the RAF in order to ENABLE freedom of manoeuvre to deliver Air and Space Power.
No. 3 FP Wg is a scalable Whole Force Ground Close Combat Wing delivering high-assurance Force Protection globally in support of Air and Space Power. It comprises a Very High Readiness Wing HQ a regular RAF Regt Field Sqn two RAuxAF Regt Sqns and an Information Activities and Outreach Flt with regular and reserve elements. The SO2 CRF Reserves role involves coordinating long-term commitments and projects advising the Cdr on RAuxAF matters via PTVR TCOS (minimum of 27 RSDs per annum) and providing UK-based continuity for the deployable Wg HQ. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop skills and experience strengthening competitiveness for future Sqn Cmd positions and other career pathways within RAuxAF if pursued.
The following outlines the requirements of the post:
Provide SME advice on FP Res specialist training and policy.
Lead Air FP projects including estimates contingency planning and optimising Wg practices supporting 3 Wg HQ outputs and CRF initiatives.
Act as MACA Advisor when required overseeing workforce needs training opportunities and updating COS on MACA tasks.
Support CRF Reserves Concepts and Policy development with GCSP RCC.
Provide CRF Reserve regional input on Infra Equipment Workforce Reviews and Optimisation.
Review and staff OSW to support 3 Wg HQ plans and outputs as needed.
Assist Wg COS with planning and coordinating Wg activities.
