Job Summary

Subject to Joint Boarding process and sS Policies a vacancy will arise for a OF3 to serve as SO2 Chief of Staff to the CSOC Reserves Leadership Team on FTRS (HC) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 1 Apr 26 or earlier if achievable. This post can be undertaken remotely although Office attendance may be required 1-2 times per month to support specific meetings or events.

Unit Function

Cyber & Specialist Operations Command (CSOC) develops generates operates and integrates unique and pan-Defence capabilities to maintain operational and strategic advantage. Reservists with specialist skills are a key component of CSOC activity.

About the Role

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a truly meaningful impact within Defence We are seeking a motivated and adaptable individual to join our Reserves Leadership Team (RLT) in the newly formed Cyber & Specialist Operations Command. This role benefits from routine exposure to MSHQ (RF&C) the other Military Commands and internal 2 and 3* sub-organisations across the array of CSOC capability areas. It offers the flexibility of remote working with occasional office attendance required 12 times per month.

Positioned within the CSOC 2* People Directorate the RLT is headed by an OF6 with three OF5 Assistant Heads. As SO2 Chief of Staff you will be the sole full-time member of the team with considerable delegated authority. This role requires an officer with broad understanding of volunteer reserve service and ideally some Joint experience (which can be acquired).

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate RLT activities with emphasis on development of Joint reserve policy and strategy on behalf of the Command.
  • Liaise with CSOC business areas and Reserves Hub to identify where reservists could make a significant contribution to the whole force meeting the Commands highest priority capability requirements.
  • Work closely with Reserve Forces & Cadets and other Military Commands supporting the realisation of the 2* Defence Reserve Campaign Plan outputs.
  • Act as the primary focal point for reserve matters across the CSOC HQ. Represent the RLT at desk-level working groups including Employer Engagement future force design strategic reserve work-strands and implementation of reserve-focused SDR initiatives.
