Job Summary

Position purpose

The Family Worker is situated within the MacKillop Rural unit which provides:

Family support and supported playgroups

Parenting and early childhood education

Support to young people who are vulnerable and at risk of homelessness

Early childhood intervention to people with a disability

In home living and community support for people living with disability


**This is a permanent part time position 4 days per week located in Coonamble NSW**


The Family Strengthening Services (FSS) is a program-funded by the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ). The program is funded within DCJs Community and Family Support Program (CaFS). The program focuses on delivering responsive and flexible prevention and early help and support services that meet the needs of children young people families and communities experiencing or at risk of vulnerability. The Family Strengthening Service aims to provide access to support to prevent risk from escalating. The target population for the CaFS Program is children young people families and communities within NSW who are in need. This population may experience challenges and/ or barriers to identifying and accessing the services they need to live independent and self-determining lives. The Family Worker is a member of Family Strengthening Services team based in Coonamble NSW and reports to the Program Manager.


Key selection criteria the incumbent will have:

A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children young people and their A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children young people and their families

Ability to run playgroups and other group activities

Ability to build positive working relationships

Ability to use computers
