Are you passionate about cooking and ready to use your skills in a meaningful fast-paced environment Join the kitchen team at YWCA Greater Cleveland as a full-time Cook where your work directly supports women and families in our community.

In this role you will prepare lunch and dinner meals for 250 women daily at the Norma Herr Womens Center locations while also providing nutritious meals for the 43 independent residents of Cogswell Hall. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine large-scale meal preparation with creativity meeting diverse dietary needs while ensuring meals are nourishing respectful and satisfying.

This is an onsite position based at Cogswell Hall (7200 Franklin Blvd Cleveland OH 44102) and includes assisting with meal preparation and delivery across locations.

What Its Like to Be a Cook at YWCA

As a Cook at YWCA Greater Cleveland you play a vital role in supporting health dignity and daily stability for those we serve. You will prepare meals that meet MyPlate nutrition guidelines comply with Cuyahoga County Department of Public Health standards and reflect care and attention to quality.

Creativity is encouraged especially when accommodating dietary restrictions cultural preferences and medical needs. Your work helps ensure meals are not only nutritious but welcoming and respectful. You will also support ongoing quality improvement by participating in monthly food service surveys that assess meal quality temperature appearance and satisfaction.

What Catches Our Attention

To succeed in this role you must be dependable organized and comfortable working in a high-volume kitchen environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of one year of cooking experience in a restaurant senior living institutional or similar setting
  • Ability to prepare meals in large quantities while maintaining quality and consistency
  • Valid Ohio drivers license or ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment
  • Auto insurance and access to a reliable vehicle

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Culinary degree
  • ServSafe Certification
  • Experience adapting menus to meet dietary medical or cultural needs

Strong communication skills attention to cleanliness and safety and a collaborative mindset are essential.
