Your part in our UnitingCare team
We are seeking a skilled knowledgeable passionate and experienced Child Counsellor to work in our Supporting Children After Separation Service within our Family Law Services suite of services inBundaberg.
This position has a primary focus of working with children and young people and providing specialised counselling to children young people who are experiencing impacts from parental separation and high conflict including domestic and family violence.
You will provide a range of high-quality age-appropriate interventions including assessment; individual and group counselling; and psycho-education and therapeutic supports to children and young people (under 18 years) who are experiencing difficulties related to family relationships and changes in family structure. The position also plays a key role in connecting children and their families with other relevant services through effective referrals and collaborations.
What makes a difference for us
Tertiary qualifications (minimum Bachelor) in a relevant human services field with membership or eligible membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. AASW APS PACFA Member Association) preferred and significant relevant experience
Excellent counselling therapeutic and interpersonal skills including knowledge of evidence based therapeutic interventions
Demonstrated assessment skills including therapeutic assessment crisis intervention risk assessment and safety planning.
An understanding of the impact of trauma on children and young people and the components of working within a child protection framework.
Significant knowledge in the area of high conflict domestic and family violence and impacts on children and family
Great communication skills analytical skills and attention to detail
