DescriptionABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Program Manager Creative & Digital Media this position is responsible for simplifying messages behind environmental regulatory requirements to develop sustainable behaviours by residents and businesses; developing designing producing and distributing Departmental promotional material including displays newsletters marketing websites social media and other material through hard copy publication and electronic media; leading project team to develop and maintain communication strategies designs and format publications and establish standard document formats and design guidelines; providing communication advice to managers and staff in the use of standard design and communication guides; and working with Corporate Communications when applicable on projects and initiatives that may have implications for the Corporation.
WHAT YOULL BE DOING
- Works with Departmental staff as project lead to develop and produce Departmental and program communications strategies.
- Coordinates and participates in community based social marketing and market research studies in support of Department and program services.
- Research market trends best practices and innovation in the areas of effective public communication and social marketing campaigns.
- Participates in Department and Corporate committees related to graphic design standards.
- Provides advice to staff and managers on communications social media and graphic design issues.
- Works closely with the Corporate Communications Branch to ensure continuity of communications services in accordance with Regional standards.
- Acts as the project lead to research develop write publish distribute and maintain standard design social media and communication guides for Department programs and services both as hard copy and as inter/intranet documents.
- Develops and produces a wide range of communication products both electronic and hardcopy including websites social media brochures newsletters reports displays and presentations that promote and support the program activities of the Department.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops and in-service training sessions and reviewing all associated technical communications publications.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
- Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Communications Graphic Design Marketing or a related field of study or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in graphic design and/or community based social marketing with exposure in both areas.
- Experience in writing designing and publishing manuals marketing publications on-screen communication and web site content.
- Strong working knowledge of traditional and new communications concepts and technologies.
- Ability to travel to off sight locations in a timely and efficient manner as required.
- Ability to work outside of regular business hours as required.
