Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN Open Heart)
Shift: Day Shift 7:00 AM 3:00 PM
Schedule: Monday Friday 8-hour shifts
On-Call: Required No Exceptions
Job Summary The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) is directly accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services and indirectly to the House Supervisor. The OR RN is responsible for providing safe efficient and high-quality perioperative nursing care using the nursing process of assessment planning implementation and evaluation. This role supports patients across all age groups including neonates pediatrics adolescents adults and older adults.
The OR RN collaborates closely with surgeons anesthesiologists and the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The nurse directs and guides OR Technicians and other support staff while maintaining professional nursing standards and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities -
Deliver direct and indirect perioperative patient care in accordance with established nursing standards

Scrub and circulate for surgical procedures including open-heart cases

Coordinate patient care with surgeons anesthesiologists and interdisciplinary teams

Guide and support OR Technicians and ancillary staff
-
Ensure compliance with hospital policies regulatory requirements and safety standards

Participate in performance improvement initiatives unit meetings and in-service education
-
Maintain efficient patient flow unit organization and equipment readiness
-
Serve as a clinical resource to other staff members
-
Must be able and willing to take call
Requirements -
Current and valid State RN License
-
BLS (AHA) certification required upon hire
-
ACLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire
-
PALS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire
-
Minimum 1 year of perioperative (OR) nursing experience or documented on-the-job training
-
Open-heart surgical experience required
-
Pre-Operative and Post-Operative experience required
