We are currently recruiting a Clinical Nurse Specialist Bariatrics for a leading hospital in Dublin Ireland.
This is a full-time position 37.5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
Promote a patient-centred approach across all aspects of care ensuring dignity comfort safety and respect in line with the Hospitals mission values and policies.
Practice autonomously within the Scope of Practice maintaining professional accountability to the Director of Nursing and reporting to the Assistant Director of Nursing.
Deliver specialist evidence-based nursing care for bariatric surgery patients across the full pathway including pre-assessment pre-operative preparation post-operative care and discharge planning.
Provide clinical leadership and expertise to ward and outpatient staff caring for patients undergoing bariatric surgery ensuring high standards of care.
Coordinate and manage individual patient pathways acting as the key point of contact for patients families and the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
Plan lead and deliver nurse-led clinics pre-admission education sessions inpatient reviews and post-discharge follow-up including telephone and email support.
Act as a patient advocate supporting informed decision-making providing emotional and psychological support and facilitating clear communication with patients and families.
Deliver structured and informal education to patients carers nursing medical and allied health staff and contribute to ongoing professional development and service improvement.
Contribute to service development through participation in MDT meetings committees change management initiatives and inter-hospital collaboration.
Lead and participate in audit research and data management activities including maintaining patient databases contributing to national registries monitoring outcomes and producing service reports.
Requirements
Be registered on the General Division of the active Register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Have a minimum of one years post-registration full-time experience or an equivalent aggregate in the relevant division of the register.
Have at least one years experience or equivalent in bariatric surgical care and/or medical weight management services.
Where specialist experience is not held demonstrate willingness to undertake supported development to achieve one year of clinical specialist experience.
Hold a relevant third-level qualification at Level 9 (minimum 60 ECTS) or higher aligned with specialist nursing practice requirements.
Where the Level 9 qualification is not yet attained demonstrate willingness to undertake supported postgraduate education relevant to the specialist area.
Demonstrate the clinical managerial and administrative capability required to fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with patients families and the multidisciplinary team.
Provide evidence of ongoing continuing professional development and lifelong learning.
Demonstrate professional commitment to high standards of patient-centred care and service development.
