Position Overview
The Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with acute medical neurological and telemetry needs. The RN functions in a fast-paced acute care environment managing varying acuity levels while delivering evidence-based patient-centered care.
Candidate Requirements
Active New York State RN License must be in hand at submission (no exceptions; NY is not a compact state)
Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year of acute care experience
First-Time Travelers: Accepted
Local Candidates: Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
Certifications
BLS (AHA)
ACLS
NIHSS
Clinical Skills & Competencies
Ability to safely manage 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratios in a MedSurg/Telemetry setting
Cardiac monitoring and emergency response including:
Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
Activation and participation in Rapid Response and Code teams
IV therapy and phlebotomy:
Peripheral IV line care and management
Respiratory support:
Nasal cannula
Oxygen face masks
Portable oxygen tanks
Non-invasive airway management
Infection prevention and control:
Isolation precautions
Unit Overview
Acute care unit specializing in the management of:
Stroke patients
Neurological disorders
Acute medical conditions
Utilizes an adjustable acuity care delivery model to support evidence-based stroke prevention and acute intervention
