Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting two fixed-term Kaiārahi Pūmanawa Tāngata - Senior HR Advisers to join the HR Advisory team.

Two of our team are heading off on parental leave for a year and we are looking to replace them from 27 February and 8 April respectively. If you prefer a specific start date please mention this in your cover letter.

Both roles are 32 hours per week ideally across 5 days a week although for the right person we may consider full time (40 hours per week).

We are looking to appoint into the salary range between $96050 to $129950 per annum.

The role isfast paced often complex but rewarding and provides the opportunity towork across the range of advisory functions. You will work closely with Human Resources Advisers to deliver HR business as usual as well as employment relations organisation development HR systems and reporting specialists.

The role is within a large team of experienced Senior/HR Advisers providing timely and best practice advice and support to internal clients through a range of HR tools and support services.

  • Contribute to a high-performing HR team by sharing knowledge supporting peers and working together to deliver consistent high-quality services across the University.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

Ideally you will be an experienced Kaiārahi Pūmanawa Tāngata - Senior HR Adviser looking for your next opportunity to broaden your HR career journey within a large company for a fixed are keen to hear from people who have particular experience in managing employment relations cases manager capability building or culture change.

You will:

  • Demonstrate experience in a client-facing role using your best practice relationship management skills and provision of Senior HR operational/advisory services.
  • Be agile able to self-organise and be comfortable working autonomously as well as willing to contribute proactively and positively to support others.
  • Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal with interpersonal skills allowing you to work with people from different fields cultures and different managerial levels of the organisation.
  • Be confident working with HR systems software applications such as the Microsoft Office suite and know how to utilise data from Power BI.
  • Be resilient and have the agility to pivot when work demands need it and ably manage HR processes in various stages of improvement.
  • Know when to engage your colleagues to work as a team support your colleagues when they need it and ask for support when you need it too.
  • Ideally you will demonstrate anunderstanding ofteaoMāori and commitment to upholding TeTiritio Waitangi in Human Resources practice.
