Senior Business Continuity Specialist

The Chief Information Security Office is seeking an experienced Senior Business Continuity Specialist for a 12-month fixed-term opportunity within Digital Services. This position focuses on uplifting and maturing Business Continuity (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) capability across the organisation.

The role includes implementing and embedding BCP/DR frameworks leading the creation of Disaster Recovery Plans (DRPs) delivering training and exercises and establishing sustainable best practices. The specialist will work closely with Product Owners engineering teams and Delivery Teams and will also provide coaching and capability-building support to an existing Business Continuity Specialist.

This role is suited to a highly experienced practitioner with substantial multi-organisation experience and deep expertise in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity.

Please note this is a full-time (37.5 hours/ week) 12-month fixed-term position with a salary range of $130000 - $149800 per annum (prorated) depending on skills and experience.

• Extensive experience in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning.
• Demonstrated experience implementing DR/BCP frameworks leading BIAs and facilitating DR testing and exercises.
• Strong background in governance risk and compliance or an engineering/IT operational environment.
• Ability to mentor coach and uplift the capability of others.
• Skilled in workshop facilitation communication and cross-functional stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to interpret resilience data develop useful metrics and provide informed recommendations.

Rātonga Matihiko Connect is the service division with accountability for agreeing the Universitys digital strategy and executing its technology plan. Its responsibilities are broad and its expertise and focus areas span product and service lines from provision of devices seamless connectivity and collaboration services to supporting learning teaching research and administration with softwarebased solutions highperformance computing and supporting new learning and teaching delivery modes. The function has also incubated and led the establishment of new ways of working including agile delivery and humancentred design championing crossfunctional collaboration and teamwork to better solve customer problems. It continues to demystify and democratise the benefits of digital across all parts of the University.

He kōrero mōu About you

You will bring extensive experience in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity with a history of working across multiple organisations. You will have a strong ability to uplift lowmaturity DR/BCP environments identify gaps and risks and implement sustainable repeatable frameworks.

You will be comfortable engaging with technical teams engineering groups and senior stakeholders contributing both strategic guidance and hands-on delivery. You will also play a key role in coaching and developing an existing Business Continuity Specialist to ensure capability transfer throughout the term of the role.

This position is well-suited to an experienced specialist aiming to apply deep practical knowledge to strengthen organisational resilience and deliver lasting impact.
