Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) Progressive Care Unit provides intermediate-level nursing care to adult and geriatric patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and stepdown-level interventions. The RN collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to deliver safe evidence-based and patient-centered care in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Scheduling & Charting
Charting System: Epic (required)
RTO / Scheduling Requests: Must be submitted at the time of candidate submission
Call-Off Policy: Up to three shifts may be canceled during a 13-week contract without penalty
First-Time Travelers: Accepted
Local Candidates: RN candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility (LPN locals accepted)
Required Licensure & Certifications
Active New York State RN License (single state; NY is not compact)
BLS ACLS NIHSS
Pending licenses are not accepted
Required Clinical Skills
Progressive Care / Stepdown / IMC-level nursing
Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
Rapid Response and Code Team activation
Oxygen delivery systems (nasal cannula non-invasive airway management)
Management of cardiac drips (non-titrating)
Blood product administration
Central and peripheral line care and management
IV therapy and phlebotomy
Infection control and isolation precautions
Unit Details
Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:45
Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
Common Diagnoses: Long-term pulmonary conditions ENT surgical patients and post-surgical patients requiring stepdown-level care
Floating: Required within skillset
Scrub Color: Navy blue and white combinations
