Job Title: K-6 Physical Education Teacher
Responsible To: Building principal
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Health and Physical Education K - 6. Appropriate certification to teach in MO.
Primary Functions:
Provide physical activities selected and conducted for purposes of developing the individual physically mentally emotionally and socially. The skills interests and attitudes acquired in activity should help the participant to possess a healthy and efficient body an alert and creative mind emotions that are under control and social behavior that is sound.
General Responsibilities:
Teach knowledge skills and understanding of topics included in the State of Missouri and Carthage R-9 curriculum for health and physical education.
Specific Duties:
- Provide physical education fifty minutes weekly and health instruction twenty-five minutes weekly for each child.
- Analyze demonstrate and explain basic skills knowledge and strategies of games rhythms fundamentals of body movement as well as individual and team sports.
- Provide individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each child.
- Provide a safe environment.
- Maintain standards of student behavior that are conducive to student learning.
- Work cooperatively with certified and non-certified staff.
- Instruct students in basic subject matter specified by the State of Missouri and the Carthage R-9 School District.
- Maintain inventory records and provide for the selection of supplies equipment and instructional materials.
- Provide individual physical fitness testing for grades 4 - 6.
- Cooperate with other elementary physical education instructors in planning of annual fifth and sixth grade all city track meet.
- Plan and organize the end of school track meet.
- Perform lunchroom duty if assigned.
- Coach interscholastic sports if selected.
- Work closely with principal to provide opportunities for all children to feel good about themselves. Create a school atmosphere where each child comes to school eager to learn where each childs love of learning is nurtured and each childs potential is developed. Strive to make a happy productive classroom where children know they have self worth and are encouraged to reach their life goals.
