We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Assistant Supervisor based at the St David Café within the University Unions Food & Beverage Department.
The University Union is a commercial university owned operation comprising of 22 business units in 17 locations around campus. It is part of the Universitys Campus and Collegiate Life Services. The business units are divided into three major areas of operation College Catering Retail and Food & Beverage.
The role Te mahi
Working alongside the outlet supervisor you will assist in managing the Outlet effectively and efficiently whilst monitoring and improving systems methods and the quality of services provided.
In addition to the above tasks include but are not limited to:
Advise on execute and contribute to projects as appropriate.
Help to ensure the team meets and adheres to security and safety policies procedures and
compliance requirements.
Ensure that all tills are operated accurately within the established till operator guidelines.
Assist in training appropriate staff in till operation and cash up.
Ensure the front and back of house areas are maintained in a neat clean and orderly fashion.
Ensure food display areas are kept clean at all times.
Ensure the quality of all food and beverages is consistently high at all times.
Ensure a high level of customer service is maintained at the Outlet.
Ensure the products and services of the Outlet are delivered to customers in a timely manner.
Your skills and experience Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
This position will suit a hospitality professional with previous café customer service experience. You will be a self-starter and have the ability to think on your feet as you stamp your own personality onto these vibrant outlets. You will pride yourself in your outstanding customer service skills and have immaculate presentation.
You will thrive in an environment where you can work at a fast pace whilst unsupervised and still maintain a strong customer focus. These roles will suit someone who is self-motivated and have an easy going and friendly manner. Barista knowledge and experience as well as sound food handling and preparation skills are a key requirement for this role.

This is a permanent full time (40 hours per week) position on a rostered basis. This position is based in Ōtepoti Dunedin.
The appointment range for this role is $26.96 to $28.04 per hour. Top of range $28.57.
