3Brain is a Swiss deep tech company working on cell-electronic interfaces that link biological networks to computers via custom-made semiconductor microchips. Our mission is to empower life scientists to probe intelligent networks accelerate biomedical discoveries for the benefit of patients and create a future more exciting than the present. Our interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers are constantly pushing the boundaries of engineering for lifes complexities. We are ambitious fast-growing and love to explore. The companys cutting-edge products are used in laboratories and pharma companies worldwide. 3Brain is headquartered in Switzerland nearby Zurich has a Data Science and Discovery Unit in Genova Italy and an operational unit in the US.
Tasks
3Brain is seeking for a full-time Junior Mechanical Engineer for its Italian office to join our design and manufacturing team and help scale our mechanical production capabilities. Activities will include the designing prototyping testing and maintaining of cutting-edge devices used in scientific and laboratory contexts complex systems that seamlessly integrate mechanical components thermal management fluidics and sophisticated electronics. Main responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed CAD models and technical drawings for mechanical components and assemblies of current and new products.
- Prepare detailed 2D production drawings with proper GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Optimize mechanical designs to enhance product robustness ease of assembly and cost-efficiency.
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) to ensure all parts are accounted for during procurement and assembly.
- Design maintain and calibrate custom fixtures jigs or specialized tools to help assemble products faster and more accurately.
- Collaborate with external suppliers to ensure manufacturability quality and timely delivery of mechanical parts.
- Manage prototype assembly and internal testing for early-stage versions of new designs.
- Develop accurate documentations as step-by-step assembly manuals or SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for the production.
- Support final assembly testing repair and maintenance processes.
- Monitor and analyze production performance indicators related to mechanical components and assembly.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards throughout the design and assembly lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and process-related issues during assembly test and repair.
- Contribute to root cause analysis and develop new testing or validation procedures.
- Provide data analysis and reporting to support decision-making and escalate issues when necessary.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
