Job Summary

Bon Secours Hospital Cork is Irelands largest private hospital. Established in 1915 the Hospital has 343 beds employs over 1000 staff and cares for more than 100000 patients per annum. It is an acute general hospital providing an extensive range of medical and surgical specialities for both adults and children including Oncology Cardiology Orthopaedics Gastroenterology General Surgery and Radiotherapy Services.

Bon Secours Hospital Cork is a teaching hospital of UCC thereby making a significant contribution to the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in medicine nursing and allied health professions. The Hospital is proud to hold many quality accreditations including JCI INAB and ESMO.

We are now inviting applications for the position of Basic Grade Cardiac Physiologist

Post: Full-time Permanent position.

Essential Eligibility Criteria:

  • Possess the Certificate in Medical Physics & Physiological Measurement from Dublin Institute of Technology in Kevin Street or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of 12 months experience as a Cardiac Physiologist.
  • Be enthusiastic competent hardworking and willing to develop new skills.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with management consultants staff patients and visitors to the hospital.

Role Responsibilities of the post include and are not limited to:

  • Perform routine work to the highest standard as determined
  • Performing and analysing Electrocardiography (ECG) recordings
  • Performing and analysing Holter monitoring studies and Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM)
  • Performing and analysing exercise stress testing
  • Performing and analysing echocardiography and associated cardiac studies appropriate to level of training
  • Performing haemodynamic monitoring and procedural documentation during invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures
  • Performing and analysing aspects of cardiac rhythm device management including implant support routine follow-up and basic programming under supervision

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
  • Ensure patient safety comfort and dignity at all times
  • Adhere to infection control health and safety and professional standards
  • Participate in training supervision and continuous professional development
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary cardiac team line with departmental and hospital policies and clinical governance requirements
