Job Description:

Risk Analyst

Purpose:

Under general supervision develop administer and implement risk management programs within one or more departments or Citywide.

Duties Functions and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and functions pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

• Conducts analysis of potential risks to the City and recommends risk management techniques and actions minimizing or transferring exposures and financing losses.

• Coordinates property and casualty insurance programs and recommends changes in policy forms coverage and deductibles.

• Coordinates property loss control engineering.

• Researches industry best practices and writes requests for proposals to secure the services for self-insurance and risk management functions.

• Evaluates identifies and recommends solutions for existing programs including monitoring the implementation of agreed upon solutions until problem resolution.

• Develops and implements systems and procedures to ensure that vendors are in compliance with all contractual provisions.

• Compiles and analyzes self-insurance and/or premium costs industry and reserve trends and benchmarks performance-based incentives and statistical data.

• Provides recommendations for new initiatives and program improvements.

• Plans designs develops implements and evaluates programs within area of specialization for Citywide use.

• Analyzes contracts between the City and outside vendors and determines the scope and provisions of all insurance coverage and provisions required by the City.

• Develops implements and conducts training and/or group meetings to collect or distribute information.

• Provides consulting to departments and the public on insurance coverage reviews interpretations of coverage property and liability exposures and causes of loss.

• Completes property valuations (physical appraisals) for insurance and participates in discussions with departments and carriers to evaluate findings.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation with a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job plus four (4) years of experience in assigned areas of risk analysis/management or commercial insurance underwriting.

• Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• None.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in public entity risk management.

• Experience analyzing contracts to identify risk exposures and determine appropriate insurance requirements.

• Experience managing or coordinating self-insured programs.

• Experience marketing commercial property and casualty insurance coverage evaluating proposals and recommending cost-effective coverage.

• Active Agent Adjuster or Risk Manager license issued by the Texas Department of Insurance.

• Current certification as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) Associate in Risk Management (ARM or ARM-P) or Certified Risk Manager (CRM) or completion of related coursework or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Notes to Candidate:

Join our team as a Risk Analyst! In this important role youll assist in managing and reducing risk across City operations by supporting insurance programs analyzing data and collaborating with departments to identify and mitigate potential exposures.

The Risk Analyst will assist with placement and renewal of City insurance coverages contract reviews for insurance requirements the Rolling Owner Controlled Insurance Program (ROCIP) and Certificate of Insurance compliance reviews. Frequent and periodic data analysis and reporting is required to ensure visibility of insurance-related activities and to support informed decision-making.

Your responsibilities will also include supporting contract reviews between the City and outside vendors helping develop and deliver commercial insurance training sessions to department personnel and assisting in marketing property and casualty insurance coverage to carriers and brokers. Youll help evaluate insurance proposals and prepare recommendations for cost-effective comprehensive coverage.

Salary Range:

$ 71630 (Minimum) - $90980.00 (Midpoint) depending on qualifications and experience.

Days and Hours:

Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
Hours may vary based on operational needs. Alternative schedules and remote work options are available; however the position requires at least 40% in-office each week. A flexible hybrid schedule may be offered after successful completion of the probationary period.

Driving Requirement:

If you are selected for this position and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of AustinDriver Safety Programyou may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.
