JOB SUMMARY

Spalding Universitys School of Liberal Arts invites applications for adjunct professors to teach up to 3 introductory undergraduate classes in sociology and/or anthropology during the 2026-27 academic year.

Contracts may be renewed for additional terms based on departmental needs funding ability and candidate performance. A minimum of a masters degree in sociology or anthropology is required.

Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching formats:
    • 75 minute in-person daytime classes Mondays through Thursdays for 8 weeks
    • 2.5 hour in-person evening classes once per week plus 2.5 hours of online instruction per week for 8 weeks
    • online courses with 40 hours of instruction spread over 8 weeks
  • Following School of Liberal Arts and University standards for course syllabi and LMS (Canvas)

SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • M.A. M.S. or Ph. D degree in sociology or anthropology
  • Teaching experience in higher education is preferred

INTERRELATIONS

  • Regular or daily contact with administration faculty staff and students.
  • Must have an appreciation and respect for diverse populations.
