DescriptionThe Group Leader is responsible for the direct supervision engagement and safety of the group they are assigned to in an afterschool or summer camp setting. This role involves implementing schedule activities fostering a positive and inclusive environment and serving as a mentor and role model to the youth. The ideal candidate is dependable energetic and passionate about youth development.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of Position:
- Serves as role model for program participants.
- Remains sensitive and responsive to cultural differences of program participants and staff.
- Participates in in-service trainings and on-site workshops as required for professional growth and development. Attends external trainings and workshops at direction of management.
- Supervise and actively engage a group of children in daily program activities and assisting them with homework arts and crafts recreation and other activities.
- Assist in planning and leading age-appropriate academic recreational and cultural enrichment activities.
- Create a safe learning space for children that promotes a positive respectful and inclusive environment.
- Build a rapport with participants families and staff fostering strong relationships.
- Assist in maintaining daily attendance records incident reports and other required documentation for program participants.
- Communicate professionally with families teachers and community members about the program and work with them to strengthen support for youth.
- Accompany youth on cultural and recreational field trips.
Qualifications- Must be aHigh School Senior or higher to apply.
- Must be at least 17 years of age.
- Up to 1 year of experience working with children of various ages and must be able to assist youth with homework and educational and enrichment activities.
- Must be available to work Summer Camp hours:Weekdays from 8am-6pm or After-School hours: 2PM-6PM during the school year.
