Camp Erie is a state-licensed camp program for school-aged children and while the bulk of our programming takes place over the summer we also offer short-term camps during Thanksgiving break winter break and spring school breaks.

We arestronglyrecommending that new Directors for 2026have the ability towork at least 2 days of our scheduled spring break campMarch 16th-20thfor valuable training and preparation toward summer service.

Summer Campis scheduled from 7:30AM-5:30PM fromJune 1st-August 7th2026.

Directors will be scheduled 40 hours per week during thistimeframeandmusthave the ability to commit to at least 8 full weeks of camp.

Directorsmustalso be able to attend in-person staff trainingMay 26th-29thand complete up to 15 asynchronous hours of training prior to camps start date.

Camp Erie also runs programming during Thanksgiving breaks and winter breaks. The director team is expected to work part-time during at least one of these breaks between summers if available.

Under general supervisiontheCamp Directorwill perform a variety of duties including specialized instruction and program supervision for the Towns State-Licensed programs. This may include the coordination of staff camp volunteers and participants in daily activities.

Employees at this level provide specialized instruction and program supervision which may include the coordination of schedules and activities in the assigned area.

Part-Time Hourly

2026 Hiring Range:

$21.62/hr- $24.32/hr

2026 Full Range:

$21.62/hr- $27.02/hr

Duties and Responsibilities

Camp Duties:

  • Performs duties associated with instructing or leading State-Licensed childcare programs including program supervision coordinating schedules and activities
  • Acts as Manager on Duty for Camp Leads and Aides while creating a safeeffectiveand supportive environment for staff
  • Stays abreast of the latest trends and techniques in areas of expertise. Evaluates program effectiveness and recommends new activities or techniques
  • Designs plansmodifiesand implements activities for camp participants
  • Provides a safe effective and supportive growth environment for diverse participants
  • Provides exceptional customer service to all participants
  • Responds to information requests comments and complaints
  • Sets-up and take down required program equipment
  • Leads indoor and outdoor group & participant activities
  • Supervises participants during off-site field trips and activities
  • Provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for a diverse participant population
  • Gives choices and use positive behavioral supports to address camper behaviors
  • Usesexpertisetomodifygroup activities to fit various participant needs
  • Conducts headcounts according to an established schedule
  • Serves as opening & closing staff member for State-Licensed programs
  • Serve as a professional ambassador of the Town bymaintaininga professional image a team-based collaborative approach and high ethical standards.
  • Complete all required trainingin a timely mannerand ensure staff compliance

Administrative Duties

  • Assistsin planning program curriculum
  • Gives frequent feedback andassistsin annual staff evaluations
  • Maintains area facilities supplies and equipment to ensure a safe and sanitary environment
  • Reports any issues or concerns with inventory facility conditionspoliciesand incidents to supervisory staff as needed
  • Maintains frequent communications with other staff participantsparentsand volunteers
  • Communicates information with staff Parents and Recreation Coordinatorin regards toincidents or behavior issues. Supports participants through behavioral management plans
  • Attends andparticipatesin staff meetings and trainings
  • Ensures the safety of guests and program participants by enforcing all rules and policies
  • Ensures site compliance with state licensing requirements through collaboration with the General Interest Coordinator and state licensing specialist

Other/Miscellaneous

  • Responds to emergency situations administers first aidCPRor other medical attention as needed and completes incident reports
  • May be certified to administer medication per State Licensing regulations
  • Operates assigned Town-owned vehicles and transports passengers safely while obeying all applicable traffic laws
  • Follows vehicle safety requirements as documented by the Towns proceduresincluding:obtaining keys filling with gas and cleaning vehicle/inspecting upon return
  • Assistswith conducting activitiesspecial eventsand special projects asrequiredand assigned
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


Qualifications

MinimumQualifications:

Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and must successfully pass all background checks. Must have ONE of the following:

  • A Bachelors Masters or Doctorate degree in one of the following areas: Child development Psychology Education Family and Human Development Recreation or Human Services
  • AnAssociatesdegree or 60 semester college credits and plus 3 months verifiable full-time or equivalent part-time paid or volunteer experience in the care and supervision offour(4) or more children who are not related to you
  • 21 months of experience in the care and supervision of 4 or more children over the ages of 4 who are not related to you AND either completion of 6 semester hours of college credit OR 40 hours of training in coursework applicable to school aged children

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • CPR First Aid and AED certification or ability to obtain within three months of employment
  • State Licensing Compliance Trainings and Certifications
  • Valid Drivers License and satisfactory driving record
