NRDC is a non-profit environmental advocacy organization. We use law science and the support of 3.1 million members and online activists to protect the planets wildlife and wild places and to ensure the rights of all people to clean air clean water and healthy communities. NRDC was founded in 1970 and our people helped write some of Americas bedrock environmental laws including the Clean Water Act and many of the implementing regulations. Today our team of more than 700 lawyers scientists economists policy advocates communications experts and others work across the United States and the globe from our offices in Beijing; Chicago; New Delhi; New York; San Francisco; Santa Monica; and Washington D.C.

Position Summary:

Reporting to theEnvironmental Health and Nature CampaignsDirector theCampaignManager will develop and implementplansto advance NRDCsenvironmental health and naturepolicy agendas.

The position you are applying forispart of the bargaining unit represented by The Washington Baltimore News Guild (WBNG /The Newsguild-CWA Local 32035).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement federal and regional campaign plans and budgets for advocacy and accountability initiatives in close collaboration with Program Advocacy and Communications partners and with regional and state-based teams.
  • Internally and externally direct and organize teams towards a winning strategy on issue campaigns.
  • Manage and spend assigned budgets forparticular campaigns.
  • Typically engage in 2-3 concurrent priority issue campaigns federally and regionally.
  • Organize partnerships as needed with other organizations to achieve campaignobjectives.
  • Organize campaign briefings and reports for internal and external interested parties.
  • Share ROI from campaigntactics andguidesubsequentdecisions for both internal and external parties.
  • Manage campaign consultants and vendors as assigned.
  • Occasional out-of-state and in-DC travel (usually a few days or events a month).
  • Occasional late night and weekend work with short notice.

Qualifications

MinimumEducation& Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in public policy political science or a related field
  • Minimum4-7years of relevant experienceinelectoral orissueadvocacy campaigns.
  • Manager or director role experience in either issue or candidate campaigns.
  • And/or equivalent education and/or experience

Skills Abilities Competencies

  • Experienced in and adept as both an organizerand asa communication tactician.
  • Proven success in building teams and working with coalitions.
  • Ability to frame issuesthrough the useofusepolling and other research to guide advocacy communications.
  • Proven experience managing internal processes projectteamsand budgettowards a joint plan and strategy.
  • Exceptional ability to analyze information formulate plans and convey them in writing and through oral presentations.
  • Track recordof cultivating high-level relationships with political non-profit advocacy and philanthropic leaders with a well-established professional network in politics government and non-profit advocacy.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills including the ability to proactivelyidentifyobstacles and propose solutions or recommendations to overcome them.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects involving multiple people and deliverables and to perform or quickly learn new tasks systemsand technologies.
  • Ability to prioritize and efficiently execute tasks follow institutional procedures and work independently with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Professional exposure to energy and environmental issues isnot.This rolefirst and foremostrequiresan innovativecutting-edgecampaign and public affairs professional.
  • Some professional exposure to Congress is desirable but not.
  • Competence with and commitment to diversity and inclusion; ability to be an effective partner with diverse colleaguesleadersand partners.
  • Ability to travel to NRDC U.S. based officesapproximately 10-20% annually
  • Commitment to NRDCs mission values and DEI principles
  • Ability torepresentNRDC with maturity judgment and professionalism.

We offer competitive salaries excellent benefits and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. Internal equity will be reviewed and considered to determine a final offer. For this position the salary range is $113000 to $124000.

NRDC operates under a hybrid work model. Employees are required to come to the office 8 days per month.
